Rebuild or not?

I have a spare 915 tranny out of my 80SC & 4 Working brake calipers. The cost of the parts & tools needed to rebuild the tranny that I have apart is aprox $1450. I am guessing the the core tranny is worth around $350. I would replace the 1,2,3,4 sliders & syncros & the spedo hub. What is a fair price for a rebuilt 915 ? What is the value of the calipers, as is & rebuilt. They worked fine when removed about 7 months ago. I am trying to decide wether it is worth my time & cash to rebuild or just sell as is. Thanks for suggestions, Craig

Well, around here $2000 will get you a 915 rebuilt, depending on what you need. You do the R&R. I think you are better off rebuilding your unit. You will know what you get and the tool cost can be recovered at least half by resale.

Check the classified section for SC caliper sales. I don't think they are worth a whole lot. Maybe $200-400?
