911 SC suspension in '70 911?

Someone has a complete '87 911SC Front and rear suspension for sale. This includes everything, including brakes and axles.

Will this suspension just bolt in to a '70 911E chassis?

My car has a 3.0 Liter and I have been thinking about doing some suspension work.

Yes everything will fit.

the front is a bolt in-no mods or changes necessary.

The rear trailing arms will fit however the torsion bars and spring plates will not. the 87 had a G50 transmission and will not be compatible with the 70 chassis. you could use your spring plates and bolt them to the aluminum trailing arms but you would run into another major issue. the CV axles would not bolt up to your transmission and you could not use the 70 axles. I think the lengths of the G50 axles are different than the 911/915 and so you can not just swap the CV joint onto the axle.

If you could find the rear parts from an 86 or newer you could bolt them on but you would still require custom CV half-shafts with the SC/Carrera outer joint and the 70 inner joint. btw, This takes about 15 min to swap joints on the axles.

So the rear is the only problem. I have a 915 trans. So basically my only problem would be custom axles?

I could used the '70 torsion bars and spring plates with the aluminum trailing arms?

You will have to verify they will fit. I am not sure when the change took place but... Most 911s had half-shafts with a removeable CV joint on each end. The joint is held on via a circlip. The half shaft would then bolt to the output flange on the tranny and a hub in the trailing arm. this made the ability to swap CVs onto different axels possible. Just pick the correct CV to match the desired hub/output flange.

Sometime during the 3.2 Carrera lifetime (84-89) the design changed to have a fixed hub/axel attached to the half-shaft. this is where your problem lies. Maybe someone can help you out. i don't know if there is a CV joint that will fit on the later half-shaft that will bolt up to your tranny. I think the G50 is wider than a 915. Hence shorter half-shafts.

What year 915 do you have? 6-bolt or 4 bolt/2 pin?

Maybe the earlier hubs will fit the later arms with the correct wheel bearings, etc.

best of luck on your swap.

So, is it an 87, or an SC? Last SC was 83, and as someone said, at some point Carrera went to G50 transmission, which has differences.

To make this easier. This is what I'm think of buying.

'87 suspension for sale

There is also this:

SC rear suspension for sale

And finally this: But I'm not sure this will fit the '70 suspension. Hence the upgrade to SC suspension so I can mount these.

JRZ suspension
