This board is pretty cool

I must say, having been involved with other car forums, I had the impression that the "porsche crowd" fit the stereotype.

You know the "pricks are on the inside" joke.

I had always had the idea as well that guys who restored porsches were "check writers" who had no hands on what-so- ever.

Well, since following this board for some 6 months now and having recently signed up, I am pleasantly suprised!

The amount of knowledge here, and true love of the cars, for reasons other than status, astounds me.

I am truly happy to have found this place.

Now, if the price of parts wasn't so damn high.......well that is another story

cheers,
Roman

Nice year 911! You can find the parts that you need at a lower price if you are patient for them to become available.

It's funny, I think the "pricks" don't seem to stick around here long. Everybody is really here to learn, and share knowledge, and have some good, clean (mostly) fun. I haven't decided if I get more excited when I help someone or when someone pulls my head out for me. This is a special place, and the more, the merrier! Welcome aboard.

God, slippery slope is right!

Already I am trying to figure out my heating system, planning on backdating it, lower my car, polish my Fuchs, redo my interior, install short shift kit, remove my useless A/C, detail my motor, and on and on and on

This board is really pissing me off lately Jeremy. Alot of these so called porsche experts make me laugh. Guys that have no idea of what there talking about start giving advise to new guys on the board. Half of them go to TRE and waste your guys time on things they want when tring to put 25K into a POS car. Well, I guess it keeps you guys busy.

My advise to you RFR is to do your homework before you listen to some of the guys here. If Grady Clay gives you advise, Take It! His advise is good as gold. Bill Vandenberg is also a wealth of information. Anyway, Good luck on your car and welcome to the board.

BTW, Dont listen to any advise I have to give! Have a nice Day!

Welcome to the community Roman. Isn't it funny how reality tends to be completely different than perception?! You know, you are one of us now.

In the last year I've spent $14,000 on the initial purchase of the car and another $7,000 improving it. Most of it has been DIY and has been both educating and maddening. Most of all, I've not regretted spending any of the money or time on this beautiful car of mine. I suppose that makes me a true "enthusiast".

On a side note, what the heck has gotten into your bowl of cheerios, Joseph?! Jeez!

Welcome to a superb place of knowledge, passion and friendship!

And Joseph, we are trying to learn and help if we can. We can not all be as experiences as Grady, Bill, Jack, Ingo etc, etc, etc.

Sorry if that pisses you of.

Are you NOT calling us pricks Roman? WTH?

Just kidding.

I have found so much information on this board that ist has paid for the parts I bought from Pelican. I may not be an expert, Joseph but I try to help anyone here that may have a problem that I have experienced already. I don't have buckets of cash to throw at my car, either. I look at every upgrade/repair as knowledge I will have to pass along to the next generation of Porsche guys/gals.

Hey guys. Im not tring to bag anyone in particular but I have seen so much misinformation that I only ask (by PM) the questions I need to ask. BTW there are alot of pretty smart guys on the board. Like I posted a while back, I would not have been able to build my car the way I did. I also see guys post just to type on the keys. It drives me nuts. "How do I add nitrous to my 2.4T".
OK the stress of the new job is cracking me up. Im gonna go and run over some old ladys now.
Did I mention about all the info that helped me build my car. Do a search on some of my previous post.

I can't believe no one reamed him for not posting a picture of his car. You guys are slipping.
RFR, no more replies until you post a picture.
Welcome to the board.
When I travel I post for things to do in the visiting city.
Always meet some interesting types.

RFR,
Welcome to the board. I too thought all Porsche guys were the 'P' word, as in the joke. I think it comes from the fact that Porsches are built to a different tolerance than 'normal' cars, and unles you have been thru one, you will not know that. I too was suprised by the calibre of folks here - esp. since i had just come hot off a 2 year MGB restoration. Man the difference is nite and day, but I love it!

Once again, welcome to the board, and if there is anything I can do, let me know!

So when are we getting together for another SoCal fun run? Catching up on the Pelican board is great, but driving and catching up with everybody on the road is even better.
