Why Off Topic Posts Are Good in this Forum

Wayne, I understand your ranting about the off-topic posts being on this board, but if it wasn't for your last off-topic thread about off topic posts that the idea for new BBS software would never have been developed and implemented in such a short time. I think thanks also should go out to Old Skul for keeping the pressure on to get the new software in place. In the end I think it shows that there is a place for off topic threads on this board. They are what really builds an internet community. I suppose this topic is also an off topic thread

That's entirely untrue. I read the off-topic boards as well, and would have posted/seen it there. No use in cluttering up the 911 board with OT posts when there is a perfectly good forum designed specifically for OT posts.

I still don't see what the big problem is. Would you like me to make a OT forum for 911 BBS owners only?

I think there are a few reasons that it is seen as a hassle to go to that forum.
1.) Most people don't check it at all
2.) It IS 2 clicks away!
3.) All those pesky 944/968 owners will be exposed to it too!

Maybe you should create a password protected 911 OT board. That way all those water-cooled guys can't pollute the board. No wait!! Make it so that you have to enter your VIN number to get access. Then you won't get many, if any guys from other boards because they won't have a VIN!! Sorry for the sarcasm guys. Just playing. But really, the OT board isnt' the same. It's just as easy to get to, but not as many people look at it is the problem. It is easier to just post it here.

I think the level of OT posts doesn't really stir the soup here too terribly much. I think stuff like, ahem, "DA BEARZZ" would be great candidates for the OT forum, and the Windows XP thing, but as we discussed the "OT Posts Are Bad" thread, OT has its place in a community.
