Adjustable spring plate question
 

I did a search, but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Installed Sway-Away- Adjustable spring plates tonight and have a question for those of you who have these. The ride hight adjuster screw seems like it could move around easily. Does the load of the smaller piece of the spring plate onto this screw keep it from moving around?

Could one put a thin jam nut on the top section of the screw to keep the screw from moving from it's intended position?

I know that Haydon, of Wevo, addressed this issue with a set screw to hold the adjutsment screw in place.

Use a little bit of blue loctite if your worried. The other design bothers me because of the way the threads are being possible damaged with the set screw.

Loc-tite is a one time use product.

The ideal sdjustable springplate would not only answer the structural issues often related to the Weltmesiters but also have a cut in the adjuster screw body and a cinch bolt to hold/release the ride height adjuster screw.

You can buy set screws that have a brass tip on them that will not damage the bolt threads.

Or you could put a dab of paint on the adjustment screw and check it after a week to see if it has moved. You might be be surprised to see that it hasn't moved at all and that all your worrying is for nothing.

Sheez....I put anti-seize on mine as I was worried about the exact opposite.

For what its worth, I've had mine on for 5 years with thousands of track miles and they haven't moved.

Me too, but if your worried just mark it with a dot of paint

I just installed mine and I did add some 8/32" nylon tipped set screws. The 2"x1/2"20 set screws were sloppy so I measured them and they are .478 in diameter. I picked up some new ones and they are .496". No more slop. It probably doesn't matter but it bothered me they were loose.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll try the paint idea first. If they slip, i'll drill a whole and use a set screw.

Does the car's entire rear weight rest on the small square projections?
