Need insurance options quickly...

Didn't want to make this thread any longer, as I'm now just looking for a street insurere.

USAA just dropped my SC....

Got the final notice from USAA that my appeals have run out and my SC is getting dropped as of March 9, 2006. I wasn't too concerned about it before, as they said Progressive would take me through some deal they had with them. I called to get that ball rolling today and they said, "Ooops. Progressive won't take you." Now I need a very minimal street policy to cover about 3000 miles per yr. exclusive of track use, for which I have DE insurance through Laurel. AFAIK, American Collector's doesn't write in VA yet. Any help?

Check American Collectors, they mention VA in the FAQ. They dont offer DE insurance in VA, but might offer the standard service.

Amer. Collectors turned me down because they are some part of USAA and USAA dropped me. Looks like Leland West is a pretty good deal and is considering me. I used to work with their founder's brother-in-law, so I think my app. will be getting personal attention.

Be careful of the “collector” insurance companies. They are very specific on how the car is used. Any deviation from pleasure use only will result in a dispute if a claim is made.
Why were you dropped? If you are over 30 and have a good record, try State Farm. They have me covered for my 86; around $380 a year with no limitations on use. I am limited to 5000 miles a year.
Good luck,
Ben

I tried State Farm and it was about twice as expensive as USAA. They'll take me, but the only way to cut that price down is to let themj insure my house and other cars too, which I'm not willing to do. USAA dropped me because I foolishly admitted that I track my SC, even though I made it very clear tha I had a separate DE policy, so no dual indemnity was in effect.

Are you trying to insure all three of the Porsches in your signature? Also, do you have another car as a daily driver and a member of PCA? I'm with American Modern Home brokered through Leland-West. There are some restictions; lockable garage, no business driving, no race track coverage & you need to pick a mileage limit on each car - 1000, 2500 or 5000 miles a year. Leland-West was very friendly/helpful when I had my windshield replaced last year.

I've been really happy with Citizens. It's worth a try. Everything I have goes through them. I haven't done track events so I have no idea what Citizens does along those lines.

I had a few too many bad experiences with State Farm so I changed over a long time ago. I wouldn't use them again. IMO.....

I'm very happy with Sneed as they do not have 'can't drive it to work' exclusion that Hagerty does.

Actually, I don't even mind most of Leland West's restirctions. I never ever drive my SC to work. It's purely a pleasure thing. I may stop at the grocery store on the way home from the track, but it's not an errand runner either. I should have no problem complying with the restrictions, other than figuring out my garage situation. I'll check on those other options. I have about 6 wks. to worry about it.

State Farm also offers Classic Car coverage for your SC. You may want to inquire.
