Name That Gizmo~!!
Well...actually - name the parts function and location - please.
2 fairly rigid foam cylinders with about a 6mm I.D. thru hole. It's been quite a while since I disassembled the car, and for the life of me I can't remember where these go... I'm thinking on some rod or possibly bowden cable to dampen movement... Anyone know? Thanks in advance! Jim http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18...C_0008copy.jpg |
Front torsion bar assembly, maybe?
|
No...
Dimensions are: 28mm O.D. X 30mm Length X 6mm I.D. |
Pretty sure those are not any suspension parts. Went through my entire susp. last winter and did not encounter such part. Not durable enough for suspension. Guessing somewhere in the interior maybe. Did you dissassemble the entire car? Which parts did you go through?

the pics are a little dark on my monitor but the description sounds like the anti rattle found on items like the climate control cables that are under the front hood as they traverse the blower motor housing. Also found in the mirrors housing but those are generally grey. I've seen on some cars the same anti rattle around the mirror harness plugs under the dash.
Also, if you've been as deep as inside the tunnel the accelerator rod has an anti rattle on it somewhere around the middle. |
I second Kevin's suggestion that they are anti-rattle devices (or vibration dampers) for the heater control cables. I was working on removing my A/C a couple of months ago and snapped this photo that shows their location:
