Compression and small displacement increase 3.0 - 3.2 How Much Horsepower to expect?
I think I am going to bump my 3.0 to 3.2 and around 1 point of compression. The engine currently runs with Elgin Mod S cams, 9.3:1 C.R., webers, mild port work and SSI + factory '74 exhaust and dynos at 212 at the wheels.
How much increase can I hope for by bumping the compression to around 10:1 and running a twin plug ignition + adding 98 mm pistons and cylinders to change the engine from 3.0 to a s.s. 3.2? Any educated Guesses?????

Bump and final attempt for info on this one. My guess is maybe 30-35 h.p. but it is only a guess.

Hi JMZ
I run the following setup: 98 mm JEs at 11:1, twin plug, 41mm ID headers, intake ports 40mm and exhaust just cleaned up, supercup cams, aftermarket EFI. I got about 265 hp. I will be going to 38 mm ID headers and a better cam timing setup. My old setup had the cams advanced to improve low ind torque lost by the oversized headers. I am expecting about 290 to 300 fwhp. I do not regret my setup, and it is an awesome road and track car. Just beware of what JE pistons you buy, as mine needed to be modified to accept the twin plug spark plug. |
