headers on 911

anybody know if headers from 993 twinturbo will fit my 3,0l sc engine?? is it corect that all aircooled engines has the same fitting to the engine??

Joe Bob 01-15-2006 07:33 PM

Nope.....

Stein 01-15-2006 07:58 PM

witch headers can i use then?

Joe Bob 01-15-2006 08:02 PM

Normally aspirated 3.2 and under.

Are you shure?

if you read here it's says that 993 haeder works with 3.2l then it should fit 3.0l too???

Stein - where do you live? You realize headers will make it so you don't have heat. If you need heat, SSIs is a good place to start, or used heat exchangers from a '74 2.7 or earlier.

Joe Bob 01-15-2006 08:34 PM

3,6 headers are too big pipe wise for a stock motor, the 993 ones have the studs or the other side and the turbos have a place for the turbo which you don't have....

Stein 01-15-2006 09:06 PM

dd74: live in Norway. If it's possible to modify the heating and make that fit, it's no problem.

mikez: as long as i can fit the 993 headers on to my sylinder-heads i belive it will fit. My car has mounted twinturbo, but the headers has no heating.
what did you meen by "the 993 have the studs or the other side"?

dd74 01-15-2006 09:27 PM

Stein - if you have a turbo, no, the SSIs or '74 heat exchangers won't work. :(

After the 964 motor, one bank of exhaust studs were rotated 90 degrees. To fit 993 headers on pre-993 cars, you have to cut, rotate, and re-weld one bank of flanges.

I have no idea if this is the same for Turbos.

Is the inner diameter of the 993 headers the right size for your motor? It could cost you power, especially at lower RPMs.

Stein 01-16-2006 05:06 AM

dd74: no, ssi won't work.

jack olsen: when it comes to diameter size i think it's less important on a turbo engine as long as it's big enough. but of course it depends on how much power i want. Overkill will probably lead to loss power at low rpm.

thanks for info. I think it will be easier to modify 99tt header than use 930 turbo and rebuild with single turbo. cheaper too....

The turbo has the same reversed flange as the n/a version.

but the good news it's only on the 3 passenger side cylinders and Tyson posted a nice solution for rotating them here

What about the oil tank?? will this get in the way??
