How many 1984 Targa owners are here?

According to the red book, their was 2,260 targas made for the US market in 1984 and I want to see how many are left. I have #2238 based on my VIN.

WPOEB091CES160001-2260. However, two things are a little off. According to the book, the 84 or the E program was to have stopped in July of 84 while my sticker says 09-84 under manufacture date. And my VIN has a number where the C is in the VIN number. What gives?

Any help and or responses are appreciated.

I'm one, owned it about 2 1/2 years. Just pulled the engine and put it back in for the first time (crossthreaded #2 sparkplug, ugh), anyway, came out OK. It fired right up. Sorry, just read the rest of your post, mine is an ROW, nevermind.

Chris, according to my source, the 1985 model year car actually started production on October 1, 1984, so your September 1984 build date would have been right at the end of the production run for the '84's, which is supported by your car being number 2238 out of 2260 total.

Your VIN probably has a 7 where the "C" would be, right? Mine does. I'm not really sure what the answer to that would be, but it's not a problem.

How are the brakes feeling, Chris?

The ROWs only had 1,469 made, which is less than the US market. When was yours made (production date)? I am curious as to if they built all the ROWs first or did they make them based on orders from dealers etc?

Scott,

My VIN has an 8 where the C is. The brakes are fantastic, I really got to push them hard today. I was coming down the toll road (241) into Irvine and their was a chair/seat that fell from a car in the middle of the fast lane and I manuevered into the left shoulder to get around while braking in case I had to hit the chair. Thanks again for all your help.
