Cool EFI conversion porn

Well it's been about 6 weeks but the EFI conversion is done I will be downloading the software this afternoon with Mike Bonkalski of Motomotions, a great guy to buy parts from and work with. The car is a stock 83SC with SSI's and a 2 in 2 out MK muffler. I am using Megasquirt version 3.0 and TWM 46mm throttle bodies. The install of the electronics went well the biggest struggle I had was finding a air cleaner that would fit with my AC compressor, ended up going with K+N billet aluminum. Also for anyone that has never built their own braided fuel lines I never knew I could bleed so much, man that braiding is sharp I can't wait to drive my baby, next up is total suspension upgrade

Wow...awesome! So you stayed with the stock coil for spark?

I can relate wne it comes to bleeding and making your own braided steel lines...like a stuck pig!!

Let us know how the car runs...and I bet it would sound horny!!

I'm curious why you went with the Motomotions kit over the TBitz kit.

I may go EFI on my SC and have researched the TBitz kit but not the Motomotions kit

Thanks,
-Scott

I am staying with the stock CD unit and coil until I get the EFI dialed in then I will convert to Ford EDIS distributorless ignition, I already have all the parts. I contemplated going with the Tbitz kit but I fell in love with Porsches long ago and one of the things I love is the look of those triple downdrafts!! With this I get the look of carbs with the performance and tuning ability of EFI. I will post in the next week or so on how she runs.

Also if anyone wants to trade 3 1/2 inch tall K+N filter elements for my 6 inch tall let me know, for me these 6's are too tall and overpower the engine compartment. I'm sure for racing they may flow more air but this is a street car. These 6's are brand new. Thanks

Looks great either way, but I sadly agree with you that 3.5's would "look" more appropriate.

How tall are these from head to bottom of trumpets? I'm looking to convert to this setup with some additional turbo plumbing and currently have a MFI engine in her. I'm just trying to compare for room. It certainly looks shorter than my MFI setup, but unsure. Thanks for the trouble.

Luke I measured aprox. 7 3/4 inches from the head to the bottom of the air cleaner base. These are TWM 46mm throttle bodies sitting on top of Weber manifolds. Feel free to ask any questions you want, I learned a lot during the install and am willing to help others that are going this route.

I have aprox. $3500.00 wrapped up in this. I purchased used the manifolds and some of the linkage and had to buy new drop links. The "kit" included the throttle bodies,Megasquirt, fuel regulator, wiring harness, relay board, wideband O2 sensor and controller and ITG air cleaner assemblies. Really the only thing extra I had to purchase was fuel lines which I decided to do in Russel braided and the K+N filters to clear my AC compressor. I was able to trade someone local for the ITG's so that was a wash for the K+N's. Overall I am very happy with the setup vs. cost.

Very sexy. Couple years down the road you have to rebuild to a SS3.2 Twin plug with a little more agressive cams....that will be the schizzle! Man my credit card is getting wood just looking at that!

Elombard that thought was part of the initial planning. My engine currently runs great but I wanted to make sure that when the motor needed a rebuild that this system could handle upgrades in displacement and cams. And from what I understand twin plugging with the EDIS ignition is very easy. Thanks for the compliment I like the way it looks also!!!
