Spacer(adapter) choice for 930?

I just received my new(used) 18" Kinesis for my 1986 930. They are 11 and 8". Doing some measurements, the offsets appear to be 35mm rear and 45mm front. They both fit fine but I will need spacers in the front to push it out further for appearance. I plumed a line hanging from the fender down across the face of the rims and in the front I have about 1.2 inches between the hanging plum line and the lip of the rim. I am thinking a 1" spacer to push the outermost part of the rim to a bit short of the plum line. Do any of you run beyond the plane of the fender to the ground? How much? The rears are fine with the factory spacer and they fill the wheel well out nicely. Less than 1/2" from a plum line to the lip of the rim, not the tire. Should you set up the front the same as the rear?

Doug,

That front offset isn't making sense to me. I am running an 8" front wheel with a 23mm offset on my '86 and I get the same measurement (1.2") from the plumb line on the outside of the fender lip to the rim of the wheel. I am running about 30' of camber. It seems that if your wheels are offset further, you should have a lot less room left under the fender than I do. Are you running stock hubs and brakes?

Doug:

Are you confusing offset with backspace?....just *how* do you measure offset? For me...I "measure" backspace and "calculate" offset....

I am taking wheel width and cutting in half which would be 0 offset. I am then measuring to the rim where it mounts against the brake rotor less the 0 difference. THat is my offset.
Regardless of the measurements, it is simply a matter of how it fits on my car. The wheels fit, but I think the fronts can be pushed out a little more. How far is the question. I know the backs can be pushed out furthur, but they are fine where they are. I just want to know how far I can go without creating problems. Should I stay within the plane of the fender to rim or should I be furthur out?

I may have a bit more on the front. I just did a quick check before leaving town and I will check again tonight when I get back. Front may be more like 1.5"
Regardless of offsets, how far out can you push the wheel before it will interfere?

I have never measured that distance but checked it this a.m. to compare; mine is .8" from front fender lip plump to outside edge of wheel = no rubbing at all; however, need to be careful when max turning either direction, there is a little rubbing on the inside rear of the fender well. Just learned not to max the steering wheel in any direction when parking or so... no problem.
