Billy Bubba, $8,500 for a Carrera? Did it come with an engine?

A slow night guys huh? Lets see, this car was too good to lose while I waited for a PPI. Called the owner yesterday and saw it this morning. No records, except for the last 40k. High mileage (~210K), clean, western states car, came here from Idaho. Black with tired gray leather interior. 6 &7 16 polished Fuchs. Minor rust spots on windshield seal and front valence. Easy startup --no oil puff, clean engine but with some drips, top compartment good shape. Front tranny seal weaping. Automatic heat. AC dysfunctional. Tranny apparently had been rebuilt as it shifted great--but the throwout bearing whirling. Brakes good but tires needed. Brass tube oil cooler. Pat Moyle did a PPI for seller three years ago, reasonable leakdown numbers and classic 911 electrical issues (foglights etc). Nothing I can not deal with. I pulled the right side wheels and checked wheel # and for Fuch stamps.

It will be my (soon-to-be) wife's daily driver and DE car. She said it was better than a rock! She is happy and I am happy. Nice seller and I did not dicker with him, gave a $1K deposit and tomorrow we seal the deal at his credit union.

Why does it have a brass tube cooler?

Are you saying that it has the traditional trombone style front cooling tube. IF so, those were not part of the package from 1984 on.

Carrera's had a radiator style oil cooler fitted up front.

It is not an Euro car, the VIN is US. It has one of those 24 or so odd brass tubes type cooler up front in the fender. I know what a regular (later carrera cooler) is as I have one on my '72. HTH

Bill-seems like with a few bucks over time you and your wife will have a nice driver, even if you end up needing a rebuild in a while you will still be in for reasonable $$. Post some photos.
