911 Convertible Top

A friend of a co-worker has a 1995 911 Carrera convertible. When the roof closes (and possible when it opens) the hinges “cut” the fabric of the top. He is looking to fix this. Is there a mod that would “fix” this so it doesn’t happen again? Also, does anyone know where the best place to post this is, Pelican?

Thanks,
Rob

The cab tops often get punched through by a couple of "spikes" attached to a folding bar. The elastic strap that is supposed to make the bar fold back get old and fail leaving the bar in the wrong place when the top is down. Eventually the "spikes" wear through the top. If you manually push the folding bar back it is no problem. The better solution is to fix the elastic.

Here's a post on cab tops. Look on page 4 and BlkBrd gives a good explanation.
