http://www.lieffcabraser.com/stf.htm Luckily, State Farm didn't screw me on a repair of a Porsche -- only a Ford truck. The case involved a fraudulent practice by State Farm of using low quality repair parts for body panels, etc. WITHOUT telling the car owner. The owner thought they were getting OEM or equal parts. The Ill. S.Ct. decision had nothing to do with State Farm's cheating; instead it related to whether a law firm can bring suit on behalf of an entire group of people (a class). This is a way to take a big business to task by lowering the cost to each person of bringing suit, and also making the suits attractive to lawyers who will represent consumers. IF not finacially attractive, there won't be any enforcement... So, the state of law in Illinois is pretty bad for consumers, car owners, etc.
