Where did this part come from??

It was in one of my 911 parts boxes. Have NO CLUE what it is. Exhaust heat shield of some sort???

Only thing I can think of is that is someone's idea of a heat deflector behind the muffler.

It is an exhaust heat shield. I've the same on my 1985 carrera (it's between the exhaust (muffler) and the rear bumper).

I just took one of those off my car! kees is absolutely right, I guess that it protects the paint on the bumper from muffler heat
