SOCG - Time for an Ortega run?
Got the 993 out of the shop and she needs to stretch a bit. Chris? I think we're overdue! Any ideas on a date?

Today was the day of all days. I have never seen the weather as clear as it was today. Perfect set of conditions, rain on Sat to clean up things in the air and a slight wind (real windy now) with Sunday's light traffic (hence, no smog) and you could see for 50 miles. We never see 50 miles. Never.
Well, maybe today wasn't a missed day for driving, I'm not looking 50 miles away when I drive. ![]() But, alas, I moved the Ragammuffin yesterday to get at some shelves. The oil slick under that ol' hack is getting way too big for me to keep on. It's flowing out under the rear tire, it's gotten so bad. That and no compression on no. 6. I might be missing a few runs this year while I rebuild. It's the only part of the car I haven't touched. I got away with it for too long. See you in the Fall. |

Hey, I might actually be able to go this time.....oh...but I gotta do the brakes. Pads as thin as potato chips aren't going to get it done on Ortega Hwy, I suppose!
I MAY be able to get to them by next weekend...but I'll be coming along one of these days...probably bringing up the rear, but I'll be having fun!

Can't do next Sunday. Work has me on a Tropical beach in the Caribbean. If plans fall through I could do the following week.

Sunday might work for me...
Car is going into the shop tomorrow, as the injectors are going out to RC Engineering..... Hopefully, this will finally fix the rough running issues I've been chasing for 18 months now...

Put me down as a maybe. I'll make it if I can. Always fun to ride with the OC crew. Richard - glad to hear that your 993 is back in action. We won't make a lunch event though - gotta make it back home to watch the Steelers-Broncos game at noon.
Took my 993 out for a ride this afternoon on the Angeles Crest Highway, so I'm ready for another group run. Looks like I got some other decent photos, so maybe I'll put them up on a separate thread. Here's one of my favorites... ![]()

I'm prolly a no-show. These two jobs got me frazzled, i don't even have time to take the car down and finish the smog test.
Good news is, I'm gonna dump one of my jobs and go back to the oil refinery business next month in the engineering department. 4 days a week, about a 10% increase in pay, I may even dump the second job. Retiring at 52 sounded good a while ago but now the idea just makes me feel tired. It'd be a lot easier to just win the lottery. |
