3liter in 912 transmission clutch?

Just about ready to finish 912 street track car , had offer from friend that needs my very strong 912 big bore engine for a 356 project asap , he has offered to put newly built 3 liter 911 engine , with carbs in my 912 , the 912 has original 901 trans five speed , very smooth , cost to me will be about 2k for labor and engine difference , what are the clutch considerations , I just put new Sachs kit with p plate and bearings no more than 100 miles ago . any help would be appreciated Jesse all advice solicited

The 3.0 has the 9 bolt flywheel pattern. When we put it to our (914) trasnaxle for the spyder we contacted Kennedy Engineered Products. They sold us a flywheel, outright for the conversion that allowed use of the original clutch to the 914 (which is same input as 901). As our clutch was rather expensive early 911S unit, the $300 outright for the flywheel was a bargain because everything bolted up perfectly, no more parts to buy.

Very good people to work with. If your existing flywheel is a forged one, they can convert it for less money than the outright purchase. Unfortunately, my flywheel was cast so I had to do the outright buy. angela
