oil temp and pressure gauge

I wonder if anyboady can help me with this. I Just had my interior redone including the dash and around the gauges area. Of course the upholster man disconnected everything. I think he totally screwed up on the reconnection of these gauges because now the tach won't work and the oil temp and pressure gauge don't seem to work right. When I turn the key over without actually start the car, the oil pressure shoot up to 5 and once I crank the engine over and start the car it stays at 5 never moved. Is that normal? Also without actually starting the car but turning the key over the temperature needle shoot up to the red area, and once I start the car the the needle drop all the way down to the bottom of the gauge and stays there even after idling for 10min.
What's going on!?@#. Please help! Pleeease save my baby!!

Maybe he got the wires from the sending units connectied to the wrong side of the gauge. Pull the gauge out and change them and see if that fixes the problem.

Oil temp signal wire should be green/black. Oil press should be green/red. Oil temp not registering when power supplied indicates open circuit, ie not connected. Oil press gauge pegging(top of scale) when power on indicates open circuit ie not connected. I bet neither signal wire is connected to the gauge. Hope this helps.

Allen,

Per the diagrams below [Pelican Main page --> Electrical Diagrams button on left side] ... the tach needs the Black/Violet wire to the 'TD' terminal, Red/Black wires to the + terminal, and Brown wires to the case ground lug.
