Mating a 1974 915 trans to a 1978 SC CV joint

In order to make a 1974 915 trans flange mate (4 bolt pattern 10MM bolts) to a 1978 SC CV joint flange (6 bolt pattern 8MM bolts) is it as simple as changing the trans flange to the 6 bolt pattern flange? I have read many threads and came out confused on the spline differences. Are the spline differences on the differential output flanges (trans flanges) or the CV flanges??

Here is a pic of mine:

18 splines

Yes, it is that easy. Late '75 to 77 used the course spline 6 bolt setup for the 915.
