Everybody with an old car should be made to view this...

I just replaced mine and they looked exactly, if not worse than the pictures.

It doesn't look like it did any damage to the mount where the torsion bar rubbed. Good thing you caught that in time.
I was planning on doing this job too this winter and decided to hold off one more year. I think I'll revisit this project.

Jerry: PolyBronze bushings front and rear, together with new 21/27mm SAW bars.
I will post more pictures as I get along but I'm only working on it on the weekends... ![]()

Mine looked very similar when I replaced mine a couple winters ago (No rust but evidence of rubbing on the torsion bar). Even a car with low miles will have this sagging issue.

Annoying, I thought I had the gasket behind the front torsion bar adjuster. Can't find the little bastards....
When I called Porsche, they had to get it from Germany, if I'm lucky I they arrive Friday... I was hoping to complete the front next weekend...

OK, What's the down side to not replacing the front t bar bushings? I am sure my fronts have never been replaced. I did the rears a year ago.

I belive that when the tbars rub and rust, there is a big chance it can snap of.
If installing bigger bars it will only rub even more...

If your adding larger t- bars, it doesn't hurt to enlarge the opening through the rack slightly, either by filing or dremel. The larger bars can hit these area's even with new bushings.

Maybe not with those, but the rack was designed around 18mm bars and when you jump to 22-23mm the clearance gets tight, even with Polyurethane bushings.

Not to be contrary, but I've not seen a need to enlarge the hole.
The hole in the cross member is sized to accomodate the splined ends of the tbar which are about 24.6mm diameter. The hole is somewhat larger than that to allow the ends to pass. The tbar is positioned within the hole by the adjuster cap, not the bushing. Movement of the tbar relative to the rack should be zero, since that end of the bar remains stationary.
