some questions prior to raising my 911.
ok, doing my homework. i may dive in on friday. does it make a difference if i do front or back first? (i want to do the front to boost my confidence.) substracting mid wheel height from tbar cap height, i get a negative number. could i be that low? i played with the ferch calculator, and it only does the rears. if i have to re-index the fronts, is it a guessing game?
basically my goal is to raise my car to euro height. as it sits, it is too low to drive thru the crappy san fran streets on a regular basis. any, and all tips will be noted, keep em coming! thanks cliff p.s. how long a job is this? how many "wrenches" on wayne's difficulty meter?

Cliff, the fronts really are just a spin on the adjusting bolt. Unless yours are maxed out in some way??
So, that's a ten minute job, do that first ![]() Rears, as you know, are more involved. I may be able to lend a hand if I am not working. Give me a call if you are planning on getting into it and I'll try and get over there. Do you have any ride height adjustment left in the eccentric bolt on the spring plates? You might be able to get by like that unless you are going for 4x4 height Personally, I think your car looks sweet as is, but I don't drive it around the streets hitting man hole covers and things...... -Chris

i think it looks good too. but being a "form follows function" kinda guy, i want a more real world 911. besides raising the car .75 inches all around will benefit me alot. i have bumpsteer, (yes i have the kit installed) and the ride is rougher than all of your cars. and that rubbing when a i get a charubic track instructor. it has got to go! i talked to roger kraus to set up a corner balance and alignment, and he said my car will handle even better at euro. he stated that really low cars dont allow the suspension to work that well. (i think,.... he overloaded me on info a bit). thanks for the help offer. my garage is always open, as well as the fridge.
i want to leave the tech, plenty of adjustment room for the BD and alignment. so the front may need more indepth work.

Cliff, I know you have become an expert at working in small, cramped spaces, but you can always take over my garage for the weekend. Of course, you will have a LITTLE further to travel for the alignment, but Tim (goat) did that same thing last year with no problems.
Just a thought ![]() -Chris Dirk, glad you are back on the road !!!!!

Have to agree. Mines a little too low.
I reset the rear to euro height but the front is still a tad lower than euro. Soon to be changed. Two weeks ago I was grounded coming out of a gas station. So I am going to take it up a 1/4 of an inch to euro height. Or maybe mount some coasters........... Wish I could help but I am off to Lake Tahoe this weekend. good luck cliff.

Cliff, you will need the thin wrenches for the rear. I'm working the midshift on Friday, and get home around 6:30 am. I'll sleep until around noon, but I'll be available after that. Lemme know.

Contra opinion follows:
- since the rear is so much HARDER to do...do that end first.... That way.... you end up fine-tuning for rake for the easy-to-adjust fronts...last. It would be impossibly difficult to get it the other way 'round as far as "fine tuning" the height is concerned.... Wil

Cliff,
Do yourself a favor and talk to Brandon (Roger's son) at Roger Kraus Racing. He will give you all the free info you need, and will more than likely be doing your alignment and corner balancing. Cheers,

The calculation is critical, if you want accurate results.....
"garbage in / garbage out"..... This will ( would be) obvious once you think about this for a while....look at Car and Driver or Road and Track road tests for you model year car, as a baseline. My car ( 85 Carrera) ended up matching the 84 C&D road test car * to the pound*....2760. You won't get satisfactory results if you're off by (say) 200 lbs. SC's may weigh 2550-2650 or so....so be careful. Wil

thanks, homework is done! i am gonna dive right in.
from peeking around, my swingplates are in the lowest setting. game plan: weigh car at garbage dump, lift car, disconnect shocks, remove lowest rear tbar cap bolt, disconnect from banana arm, let the SP droop and see what angle i am at. take it from there... hopefully i can make my appointment next week at RK racing. thanks RICK! brandon said not to even mess with the fronts. he wont even charge me to do the RI. but i will, for educational purposes.
