Search online for a registered apraiser. They should have their specialties listed so you can find an auto apraiser. That's what I did.

I hired Joeseph Cornell who advertises in Hemmings. His appraisal was inaccurate, full of mistakes, and he refused to fix them when I pointed them out until I mentioned how stupid he would look if cross examined.

A lot of these guys don't know Porsches. Choose wisely.

Oh, I forget to mention that. The appraiser didn't have a clue about Porsches. He told me mine was nice original car. It has C2 bumpers and wheels and many performance upgrades. His original appraisal was $22K. I said that seemed low so he raised it to $24K. Dumb ass. The problem is my insurance required a registered auto appraiser and there are only two in Texas.

Gilach: Not sure if this will help but you may want to give American Collectors Insurance a call 1-800-360-2277. The annual premium on my 87 cab is $410. There are some restrictions (3k annual miles) but no appraisal required. You just tell them how much you want you care insured for and they quote you a price. I've got mine covered for $22k.
