Hide height input
I am in the process of replacing the rear swing arm bushings on my black 71. Thought I would reset the ride height a little lower. The car is stock with 205/60 15" on fuch's. I started off with a wheel arch height of 24.75" and have dropped it 1 inch to 23.75". I won't be able to test it until the spring and wanted to get an opinion. It look cool but don't know what it will do for the car. I was watching the first chapter of Le Mans...you know when Steve McQueen is driving through the town and along the circuit to the accident scene where he stops. That car he is driving looks fairly low. Any thoughts http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138393474.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138393490.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138393511.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138393530.jpg
Looking at the pics I would say this car is lowered. |
where's the blondie buying flowers?
Steve, you could probably go down safely to 23.25 all around. that's where mine is with 215/55-16 pilot sport cups on 16x6 don't go by Steve's - looks like stock setup with a lot of squat under power. |

big difference in fender gap in the first 4 shots. at rest looks about 4" over rim, shot 2, under power, looks 2-3" above rim, shot 3 under braking, back up to 4", shot 4, lots of lean left - right.
...or, I should go for a new prescription pretty soon bill k |
Steve,
That's where I had my car when I first got it. It looked really cool. Unfortunately, I hit and/or scraped seemingly everything in (or out of) sight, and finally got tired of the jiggly, buckboard like feeling of the suspension. Of course YMMV. BTW, where are you in TO, and what brand tires are you running? |
Steve, you're right, When you watch the track as he pulls away from the stop sign after watching the flower purchase he doesn't pull away hard but the car sure does squat down alot, that's the second screen shot.
Paul, I'm actually in Orangeville but I always say I'm from TO , makes life easier and keeps introductions shorter. I have 382 Yokohama all seasons on the car from the PO. One of them has a nastily blister on the inside wall so I'm looking for some replacements. Any input? Thanks, I feel better about where I have the car. Guess I'll drive it when the better weather settles in and see how it settles. I sure do like the first part of the movie.....oh and the racing shots. I've never actually heard of anyone building a Le Mans replica from the first scenes sure there has got to be room for nostalgia in that shot. |
