Jason2guy,
Go to search button. Search 'loose mirrors' or ' floppy mirrors'. You will find the answer, especially under 'floppy mirrors'. It is easier to fix than it sounds. I can be done with regular tools. It may take a few minutes. Good Luck! JoeF |

On the early 911 there's a ball-type (nylon?) joint with a nut that holds it together. Tighten the nut to tighten the mirror. Mine was a little corroded; it's kind of hard to get the correct angle TIGHT and still allow movement for adjusting.
Hooking it up to the door is tough too! |

On my "flag style" mirror I had to remove the mirror and tighten up the bolt that compressess the sprint inside. A large flat screwdriver worked well.

ok. do you mean the large hollow bolt that the wire goes through? you took the mirror off the door and tightened from the bottom, right?

I just did my driver's side mirror on Monday, I used a pair of good quality needle nose pliers to tighten the round bolt thingy (technical term) that the wires go through. much better now, only took 5 minutes.

What's the best way to remove the glass, to perform this task?

I didn't remove the glass at all. I just loosened the allen head screw that holds the mirror to the door. Don't loosen it all the way up, the wedge will fall into the door. Loosen a little, tehn wiggle the mirror to see if it comes away from the door, if not loosen some more.
After the mirror is free of the door, move the gasket out of the way and then tighten the round thing with needle nose pliers. You might want to protect the door paint with something in case you acidentally drop the mirror and nick it. A towel taped to the door works well. Like I said, 5 minutes and it was done. |

Thank you Chris, Jason, and Sammy. This really was a 5-10 minute job. Now my mirrors are tight!
