Anyone familiar with Goodyear Sports Car Special Slicks?

I'm looking to build my track car to fit into the Porsche Racing Club's (PRC) GT Limited class. The tire for this class is the Goodyear Sports Car Special bias ply slicks (R600 compound).

I'm trying to figure out the best width rims for these tires.

Front= #1652 (23.5X10.5X16)
Rear= #1572 (25X13X16)

My guess would be a 9.5" front and 12" rear.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with these tires?

Thanks-
Craig Backer

99% of Pcar drivers use 15 inch SCSs. They are WAY different then the 16s. The 15s are cantilever style, the 16s are not. Thats why you can run 9" witdths on 7 inch rims.

Check out these links for rim sizes..

Hey fastbacker,
We have used both types of the Good Years, cantilever style and the the traditional types.
They are great tires for club racing if your going to run in the GT-R classes.
I would look at Hoosiers also!
We have been doing very well with them.

The 15" cantilever style tires work VERY well.
The really nice thing with the cantilever ones you don't buy big buck wheels.
We use a 8"wide wheel for a 23-9.5x15 tire.
But you also can use with a 7" wheel. That tire is almost a foot wide on a 8" rim.
We use them on 914 GT's and RSR's.There also very economical
The 16" and larger type work very well also.
But, They cost a lot MORE.
Note: The 600 compound is to hard for club racing.
Use the 430!
The 600s are for endurance racing. like the 12 and 24 hr races.

Hey Rattelsnake,
Were gona be racing at the Atlanta Club race on April Fools Day weekend!
Pop in if ya get a chance.

Porsche Doc-

Those tires are what's mandated for PRC's GT-Limited class.

Thanks to you both for the info-
