After removing the seats, I've had to pound out the pan to level it, since the PO or someone jacked the car up by placing the jack directly on the PAN.... At one point it was heaved up a good 3 inches. Anyway, a few minutes work with a rubber mallet and it is now beautifully straightened, but some of the coating came off the metal when I pounded it out. This is the coating applied to the TOP of the pan directly under the carpets. (The floorboard). Hard rubber-like consistency and not too thick, but obviously thicker than paint. Anyone know what I need to use to bring it up to specs ?? Any help appreciated - Jerry

That's just sound insulation. Unless you have a show car where a judge may check under the carpet and seat, don't worry about it. Many of us mod types actually go through a lot of hassle to purposely remove this coating, to save weight.

Take Pipo's advice. POR15 is amazing stuff. In addition to cars, used it on a floating dock years ago, still no rust.
Stops / prevents rust!
