German vanity plates??

I was looking at this site; http://www.autoplates.com/catalog/custom.php?view=europlates

and think the plates are kind of cool. I would simply get a custom plate to match whatever my State plates are, then put the 'real' plate in the rear window or something. Anyone else doing this? I think I saw this setup on "Schubie's" car at the German Autofest and it was pretty slick. Thoughts?

Your local authorities might not appreciate it.....most of the time those plates are used on the front......at least that is where mine is...I dont think it would look too good having your official plate hanging in your back window....but hey....its your car....

Well, it's not like I'd actually "hang" the plate, but would put it on the rear shelf. I am having visions of velvet dingle balls "hanging"

I think you may want to check into the legalities of this first. I have seen it where someone took their actual state plate number and put it on one of these plates, but had it up front. I wouldn't put anythingon the rear deck, simply because in an accident, it's not going to stay back there. Here in CT, you have to have 2 plates on a car.

Brad:

This will not fit between your rear bumper warts. You will have to get the narrow Euro bumper warts to make room.

I agree with others. If it is legal in your state to have no front plate, just go ahead and put your vanity plate on the front.

Here in Michigan you see all kinds of cars with the real plate in the rear window. Mostly because they do get stolen at times. Michigan only requires one plate, though.
