Build your own Cayman S
Have any of you tried the "Build your own Cayman S" on the web? It's great fun.
There are many things I don't like that Cayman S comes with as standard: Porsche stability management ABS Active Brake differential Traction Control... Traction control? Yikes.. Variable-steering ratio, power assised (hydraulic) Cruise control Homelink System .. what the hel! is this? I suppose with custom tailoring offered by Porsche, the above could be removed? The optional extras that I like: Custom paint to sample $4K (maybe) PCCB ceramic brakes $8K Full leather seats $2K Leather dashboard and instrument surround $2.3K (maybe) Sport shifter $760 Sport steering wheel leather $740 Bi-Xenon headlamps $1K Tire pressure monitoring system $590 (maybe) Wheels caps with colored crest $180 ;) :p |

When I saw the title of your post I thought you were going to tell us how you welded a roof onto a Boxter...

I have the homelink in two of our cars - no cost options (buried in a package). They work great. It's nice not having a remote clutter up the car. Funny thing, my CooperS has the exact same buttons as my friend's $85K 750iL!
Back to the topic - don't discount the value of ABS and ABD - they are certainly more functional than a leather dashboard...but to each in the eye of the beholder. |
