Help! Oil Cooler removal on 3.0 sc engine

I am attempting to remove the internal oil cooler from my 73 that has a 78SC 3.0 engine. There is a white oil cooler cover. I have removed two 10 mm bolts from the botton and two from the top and it will wiggle around but does not seem to want to come off! Therefore, I cannot get to the upper 13 mm oil cooler bolts. Are there more than 4 bolts that hold it? Anyone have a picture or diagram of the shroud? Should I remove the aircleaner and other associated CIS parts to gain better access? I am attempting to do this without an engine drop. I attempted to take a picture but it may not help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good news is that I must be getting older and wiser? Rather than twist, pull etc. I was able to stop myself after the cursing stage and before the busting things stage.

Anybody read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? I think I have reached a "gumption trap".

Thanks,
Matt

theres more bolts. theres at least 2 that are impossible to feel much less get to. i ended up just prying the cover up a bit to get a long extension on the upper mounting nuts. if it cracks a little its not the end of the world, right?

Jason,
Thanks. I'll try to pry it up and use an extension.

Jason,
I got it out this morning. Thanks!! I used the long extension, a cosmetics mirror duct taped to a coat hanger and a flashlight I taped to a baseball cap. The combination worked.....although I think I lose some mechanic style points.

Matt,

Affirmative on Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintenance ... about 30 years ago, the first time! A very good read on multiple levels! Most of the messages in the book are still current, and applicable today. Esspecially the one about seeing something done to your vehicle or parts that raises your hackles, and stands up the hair on the back of your neck!

I particularly like the author's comments about his visit to the messy shop where the techs seemed oblivious to goings on around him while jivin' to a loud drone of their brand of music! Still happens these days, and the message is still the same ... get out, fast!

This incident wasn't really serious enough to be a 'gumption drain!' If you are stumped, it is always a good idea to take a break ... and attack tomorrow with renewed vigor ... before something breaks or gets expensive!
