coil location

I plan on twincoils and I thought the best place was as close to the distributor as possible, but I see many pictures with the coil 2 feet away ???

I'm not sure if distance from the dissy is as important as being isolated from heat and vibration. The only problem with distance that I can think of would be the marginally increased resistance in the wires -- which in context of the voltages and current we're talking about would be pretty trivial. As far as the timing, at the speed of light it's essentially instantaneous.
