OK, now that I have made my first post (see "Brake Light" from today) and have resolved that issue (it helps if you check the correct bulb), here are some more pictures of my fantastic "new" 1986 911. I purchased it a few months ago at 58,000 miles in near perfect condition for $25k. It is Meteor grey metallic paint with a grey-beige interior. I have the original window sticker, it sold for $40,698.00 with short shift, power door locks, 16 inch wheels, power seats, alarm system and sunroof. Since purchase I have replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, coil, distributor cap and rotor, air filter, fan belt, DME relay, oxygen sensor, A/C belt and oil and filter just for good measure. What a fabulous car this is! It just passed the Texas emissions inspection by a wide margin.

Here is a photo of my 1992 968 just for fun (it has to go):

Oh, and the PO did a great job on upgrading the A/C so that it is actually cool in the Texas summer!

York,

Nice Carerra, I am a proud owner of an 87. I noticed in your engine picture that the sound insulation is laying on the front of the engine, you may want to glue that back up to the firewall.

Beautiful car, York - enjoy it! It looks in great shape.

No point in reglueing the engine mat. Rip it off & install a new one. It can be done engine in but not perfectly - many may disagree . . .

carrera...

I have an 89 carrera, and was wondering...what is your interior color called?? I have the same color interior and was trying to find some replacement parts, but I'm not sure what the color is called. It's kind of grayish-tan??

That is correct. My interior is also linen. I didn't think I would like it but it has grown on me. One interesting difference is that my '87 has matching door handles and pocket tops, rather than black.

A beautiful car, and your 968 looks like it was well cared for, as well.

interior...

My 89 also has linen door handles and pocket tops. Mine are a little scuffed. Has anyone had any luck dying these parts?? Someone told me to take them to a shoe shop because they are cheaper than an upholstery shop. If anyone has dyed interior parts...1) how did they look and 2) how much did it cost??

Love your new '86. I too have an '86 Targa. My interior looks about the same, but I thought it was called Grey Beige. At least that's what my COA calls it. Maybe it's just the picture and yours is lighter. Congrats - beautiful

Good eyes, here is a new engine photo. The seller had Tom at Mayo Performance install a new engine pad and adjust the valves prior to the sale. I think the interior color is grey-beige, but I don't see that on the old window sticker. I think linen is lighter and more grey; this interior has some beige in it. Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Yes, it is grey-beige. Linen is much lighter. My 86 came in grey-beige but I recently redid the entire interior in a different color.

thanks (I think) bk. I have yet to see the same combo either. A little hard on the eyes at first but I have grown to like it.
