H1 vs. H4 differences

Could someone please explain the differecne between H1 and H4 headlights? The lights in my 72 have two separate bulbs, with the (unbelievable) high beams emitted by a lower bulb backed by a parabolic (?) reflector.

H4's only have one bulb which serves both high and low beams.
You have H1's I am not sure about differences in light output though. I now have H4's on the car and am quite pleased with them.

you do indeed have H1's and they are worth quite abit more than H4's. with H1's you can (somewhat) control each high and low light by the bulbs you buy. you just have more options. hope this helps. -bill

Yeah - those certainly look loke my headlights.

I cannot believe how bright and long reaching the high beams are. Why do people want to change to H4's?

The main advantage to the H1 lights is the ability that you have to aim the low and high beams independently of one another. With the H4 lights, you have to compromise one or the other a little.

H1 vs H4 difference?.......about $600.
People don't change from H1-->H4. People usually change form inferior H5 upgrading to H4's. Those of us who are lucky enough to have H1's covet them.

Andy--i love those yellow lens. Lets see a pic when you get them mounted.

Andy must be planning a trip across the channel soon, so his lights can feel at home? Bill, I've posted pics of my car here so often, the guys are getting sick of them...I'd better not. Thanks for the kind words though...
