Question car wont start... again

before i take anything apart thought i'd ask the forum...

facts:
1. the fuel pump (rebuilt, less than 1 years old, less than 5K miles) is making a loud noise, much louder than usual. turning the key on/off does not help. once i got the noise to go away, after a few cranks it came back.

2. at the same time, CDI box does not whine. when the fuel pump noise stops, the CDI works.

3. when i push up the plate inside the air intake, the injectors click.

questions:
1. can the fuel pump go out this fast?

2. why does the CDI not whine when the fuel pump makes a loud noise?

3. what's the best way to analyze this problem? (pull off an injector wire and see if there is fuel?)

thanks all

Theres really no teling how long a rebuild will last.I would pull the fuel level sender out and check to make sure noting is cloging the pick up hole port... ohhh btw, info on the car will help a bit..

Hot, cold or all the time? CIS?

Hot start CIS problems are a common to failing check valves that screw into the neck of the fuel pump....it lets pressure bleed off and the hot engine doesn't fire because of lack of fuel....cold engines get that spritz from the cold start system when cranking which compensates for the lack of fuel pressure....

Hot engines WILL start if you crank with the flap UP which fools the injectors to fire....but you need a friend or LONG ARMS....it will also start if you use Quick Start/Ether....but that's hard on the engine.
