Is This Oil Usable in Porsches ?
Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 is recommended for four-cycle motorcycles that specify the use of a 20W-50 engine oil. It provides excellent performance in motorcycle engines that are designed with a common engine/transmission lubrication system or where the engine lubrication system is separate from the transmission system. In the case of the latter, follow the manufacturer's recommendation for the type of fluid to be used in the transmission. Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 engine oil is also designed to provide the proper frictional characteristics necessary for wet-clutch engine/transmission systems. Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 exceeds the requirements of API Service Categories SH, SG/CF, CD and has been fully tested, both on laboratory dynamometers and in the field, to provide optimum horsepower and acceleration.
Fully synthetic Mobil 1 motorcycle oils are specifically engineered for use in motorcycles. The formulations are based on the proven technology used in other Mobil 1 automotive products, yet they are optimized for the unique requirements of a motorcycle engine and/or transmission. You can use them with confidence, knowing they will protect your bike in extreme situations where conventional motor oils simply can not stand up, including extended high-speed operation and prolonged idling in summertime traffic. |

Another oil thread! It looks like it has come full circle now, because on the motorcycle sites, they wonder if it is OK to use Mobil 1 car oil in their bikes. Many use the red cap 15W50 because it is cheaper and have not experienced any clutch issues Now though, Mobil 1 has changed formulations (gold cap with super syn?) so there is a new round of "discussions". I have thought of using my bike's AGIP 4T racing oil in the Porsche, but 12 quarts of that stuff would cost more than I want to spend.

It is probably OK but there is no point. The differences between this oi an regular Mobil-1 are probably quite small.
If it is a high quality 20W50 synthetic that you are after Amsoil makes a fully synthetic PAO based "High Perfromance" 20W50. I have used it for years in Porsches and BMWs with good results. Don

I'm NOT starting another oil thread, or Not intentally trying to...
I just want to know about this oil and if it will go in a Porsche. This is from a Off Shore Racing site, where they are using this oil in their motors. From what I read, it has benifits that I am looking for in an oil. I use Redline 20/50 now and I have used Redline for years, I really like it but my car sits alot, I only drive about 100 miles a week, usually on a Saturday or Sunday if it is nice. It is kinda funny the Cycle guys want car oil ! I guess part of this is me... I always am looking for that "something better" Thanks, Chuck |

Filling a 911 with the V-Twin oil will be one expensive experiment.

From what I've gathered in past threads on this topic, Mobile 1 or a nationally recognized syn and/or dino oil will provide more than sufficient protection in all temp extremes for virtually all of us at 3 K change intervals (dino), longer for the syn to 6K. I used to be somewhat obsessive about this subject for sincere reasons but the quality of todays motor oil products is now so outstanding verses even 5 years ago. Me, I'm a Castrol 20:50 type of guy. For what its worth.....
