NE Rebuilds

Hello,

Here we go, it's a 71T with a 74 2.7 injected engine, but not running right now. Need a rebuild I think, smoking like crazy and leaking oil where the 2 halves meet near the plug (the whole seam not the plug itself). The leak isn't terrible, but def noticeable. I got some new valve gaskets and valve covers(exhaust) which I will do this weekend. I read here the valve guides are probably shot too. Who knows what else. Anyone know a good rebuild shop in CT or westchester NY. I don't know how bad it is, thought about doing it myself. I never took apart one of these but know mopar pretty well. It's always a good time to learn right? Anyway, any recommendations appreciated on a shop. Also, I am in Brookfield CT, anyone around?

Unhappy might be mice, mouse house

thanks for joining the southern ri post, also i'll ad my 2 cents, not sure what the problem is but you'll know when you get it apart.
Every time i get an old 911 i pull the alternator to check for nests, why, well one time i didn't.
Car ran great, then blew a ring, started smoking like crazy then oil then died, HEHEHE, parts galore, when i pulled the engine i noticed a very large mouse house had made its way along the left cylinder bank, air cooling only works if its cooling something other than mice.
You may have heated a cylinder also and cracked a ring, stop now and check it out before the crack is a snap and then the crackle pop might get expensive. If you have not pulled the alternator to get a good look around behind there it might be a good idea. NE cars love to house rodents, inside and out.
30 year old car could be anything, thats my 2 cents and its free,
Dave

Oh yeah nice 71, I have a 72 with runnig 2.4 and webers, for parts, you could take the engine out and sell the rest of the car for what you paid, on ebay right now. Low 4k cash and its over. Not a 2.7 but it runs and if you part the car it could be free. HMMMMM thats a bargain, then sell your 2.7 and its a profitable new engine.
Or register the coupe
Dave

Same color also,

Not a bad idea. Not willing to part with just the engine? Any issues with it? You have any pics?

I don't want to hijack your thread , but yes if the auction takes a bad turn the car will get parted out in March. Pics are on Ebay, You could do a search for 1972 porsche webers, and my car should pop up. Engine pics seem to have been lost, this weekend will be my first real look at the car. I'll let you know, But keep your eyes posted , if the car has selling issues the engine will be on here soon.

Almost a shame to part her out. It looks like it could be a fun car or track car. Will talk it over with wifey.
