Classified is up in the "for sale" section of the board.

Ken, thanks for the support but there are times in life when the weight of the world is on your shoulders and it just can't be helped. Things are actually quite good with home life, wife, kids, business, etc, I just don't have the time for it right now, I'll be back soon, just with something a bit newer...

Have a look at the pics, if you know anyone interested send them my way....

Adam,

We have our logic completely crossed!

For exactly the same reasons (all of them!) I have kept mine for the last 5 years - for fear of never returning to Porsche ownership should I sell it.

I do agree with your points. I have little time for mine (1,500 miles per year!), and have had a turbo brake conversion waiting to be fitted for literally years now!

Just make sure you keep that fund separate, and try to add to it if you can. I'm probably nearer to forty (July '06) than you and have set that as a target date for me to get back into the sports bikes I gave up. I dont hold much hope tho'.

Good luck

Thanks Rich-
Funny it does seem a bit counter logic, but it works for my psyche right now....

My wife is being very supportive and has said "I know you your biggest worry is that you'll never own one again!" but I will I know it, 40 is the outer limit (5 years from now)

I just got word on Friday that a major new client is calling us in to talk about their business, jeeze if this hits I'll be shopping in a few weeks!!!

Adam,

Good luck with the new business. Ironically, when I started my business a little over a year ago, I sold my BMW 2002 to buy my 77 911. The BMW was nice, but needed finishing-something I just didn't have the time to do. People thought I was nuts buying the 911 when starting a biz, but it was clean and needed nothing.

You're doing the right thing. Sell it off w/o wasting time. You'll take a bit of a beating but consider it money spent on fun-like a vacation. The lost money will seem insignificant after you are in business shuffling around much more $$. You'll soon find that money is way easier to make than time.

Adam:

Sorry to see you're selling and will be Porscheless for a bit.

Get as much as you can for the car. Put the proceeds in a good mutual fund or a high yield CD depending on your comfort level. If possible/prudent, add a few grand each year to the pot.

By the time you hit 40, you should be able to pick up a Cayman (if that's what you're looking for) with 30-40k on it and let someone else take the depreciation hit. Hec, with any luck you could pick up a '98 C4S in your price range by then ;-) (just no Cayenne's please...unless of course it's a turbo.)

In the meantime, you're free to ride with me on our fun runs 'til you're back in a P-car.

Good luck...

Let me know how you make out with this. Susan really wants a 911, such that she'd be willing to part with the 968.

You have a standing offer to ride up the Palisades with us.

Good luck!

Pat
