it means the car was flooded during the recent hurricane activity....most likely a houston car....car was totaled by insurance company and owner retained salvage...if i am reading it correctly
|
Thanks for the input, but it looks like it is listed 4 times as "Reported registered/titled in major storm area within 12 months prior to storm"
Was there 4 storms hurricanes in TX the last few years?? |
I think that dmv is stating it was registered in the area of the storm prior to the storm hitting the area, which sounds like you need to inspect the vehicle very close . I have brother that lives in TX , I'll call him tomorrow and see if he can shed any light on this .

there were 2 storms in the last two years....car appears to be total then rebuilt...then totaled...then rebuilt....
|
Wow. I guess I can run from this one!
Thanks! hoosierdaddy, I'd like to hear from a TX person if you hear back from your brother. Thanks again! |
Tomball and Houston registration 'events' are aparently being flagged because of weather events from news reports, not actual events in the history of a specific vehicle!
The 'events' reported by Carfax with regards to TX DMV, and dealer reports are loony, to say the least, and highly suspicious with regards to Carfax data collection methods, and reporting methods to customers ... IMHO, not necessarily a believeable process is at work here!!! WTF, why, you say? Because I ran a report on my wife's '94 Nissan with 100% known history [only previous owner was her niece] and it came up with much bogus data last year, including large gaps in the mileage data! I didn't pursue it with Carfax ... because I don't think they will respond with anything but excuses based on an apparent computer glitch!!! |
I don't see ANYTHING in there about the car being totaled, salvaged, or rebuilt. Looks to me like it was registered & titled by one owner...emissions inspected...then registered and titled by another owner. All within 12 months prior to a storm. Looks pretty clean to me...
Here's an example of some bad juju: http://www.carfax.com/vehicle_history/sample_junk.cfm?partner=CFX_S&FID=27297 |
