Go to the Tech article portion of this website and there is a great article on this.
Also suggest you search here for Island911's valve adjustement tool

I'm in the middle of this job for the first time as well. Check some threads there is really good info on this site.
Some notes I have compiled.

The P213 tool (.004 gap tool) I bought from Pelican needed to be bent to a 90 degree angle, I couldnt fit it in the valves until I did this.

Also I have been unable to get the tool under the elephant foot until I first loosened the valve.

You need a good 13mm wrench prefirably short, and a good short screw driver for the adjustment. The retaining bolts are tight and soft hence the good 13mm wrench.

I have adjusted mine about three times, I still dont have a good feel for it, but I am in no hurry so I keep adjusting. It is very hard to tell if you are doing it correctly. If you have someone that can look and feel over your shoulder I think you will feel bettere about the job.

But if your like me your in it for the experience, adventure, and satisfaction.

Good Luck.
