clutch problems neverending (T.T)

*sigh*,

After just replacing the helper spring, one night while driving, the clutch pedal went to the floor. I immediatly assumed clutch cable, but it turned out to be a broken clutch pedal shaft, i.e the circular section where the clutch cable hooks onto had broken. Urgent for the part, the only place that had it was the porsche service centre where i live, charging a whopping $170AUS for a new one!.

Anyway, after buying the part, and taking my pedal cluster out, i find that my clutch pedal shaft is welded to the clutch pedal?? Is this normal? Please look at the pictures and tell me what you think. And take into account that my car is a RHD car.

That definitely isn't the way it came from Porsche. I suspect that someone had a problem with the roll pin that holds the pedal to the shaft and "improved" the pedal installation.

Now you have an "improved" price for the repair...

but don't forget that my car is RHD... are you sure RHD cars didn't come like this?

forgive my ignorance. what is RHD?

it doesn't look like a clean weld to have been done by a factory. Looks like a quick fix. get out a dremil tool and a grinder and cut the weld. You might be able to clean up that mess.
Not that I can tell from hear but it seems there is nothing to lose but some time. Tinker time is benificial to human mental health.
So consider it therapy :D

yer.. i got all the new parts, and everthing is back together. Except now the throttle cable is sticking to the clutch cable... so more headaches...

Seems that with the proper porsche way of assembling, my clutch pedal has a little bit of sideways play, maybe 1cm.. I think when the clutch pedal shifts left, thats when it touches the throttle cable. Any ideas?

Maybe your car was originally LHD, converted to RHD by some "butcher"
