the box underneath the passenger seat

anyone know what the box underneath the passenger seat of '83 SC is. There'a relay plugged to it. My upholster stepped and cracked the relay. What does it do? and what can result from this? Any one know what part # that is? Thanx for your help.

The aluminum box under the pass seat in your SC is the Lambda
control unit. It processes the signal from your O2 sensor and regulates the fuel mixture to maintain the correct air /fuel ratio for
proper catalyst operation. The relay directly to the right(outside)
of this is the Acceleration Enrichment cotrol unit for the Lambda
ECU

Did he break the relay or knock it off its mounting.

It is easy to tell if it is broken or not, if the car does not idle well or bucks when you try to drive it it needs to be replaced. Mine was clicking like mad just before it failed.

If I recall the replacement was $15-$17.

Replacement is plug and play.
