Zenith Carb questions...
Currently rebuilding my carbs, have two questions...
1) waynes book talks about adjusting the floats, but his book is on webers, does this also have to be done on the zeniths? and if so what is the procedure, same? 2) the first carb is took apart only had two emulsion tubes instead of three, the other carb had three, is this how it is suppose to be or do you think one was lost on a previous rebuild by someone else? how would not having three hurt the way the engine runs? sorry about all the questions but if im not going to do it right i shouldnt do it at all. thanks.

You should have 3 emulsion tubes for each carb. I would think the car would run poorly without an emulsion tube in a carb. It is part of the main jet circuit and is instrumental in forming the air/fuel mixture. You may not notice it at idle because the main jets aren't use when idling. Hope this helps.

got the car recently, had to do some work to the fuel system, when i did get it running it did run terrible, thats why im doing the carb and engine rebuilds. when i noticed the tube missing i to thought that may be part of my problem, i have found a few problems left from the PO when he must have rebuilt them years ago. im trying to find a source for a emulsion tube, have any suggestions?

Actually as bad as they be on engine rebuids Motormeister has lots of Zenith parts. I got different size jets and venturis from them. The venturis are webers but they have an adapter gasket that lets the weber venturis fit the zeniths. They have a big website. Otherwise you can purchase used webers or new PMO's.

I think you use paper washers to shim the fuel inlets in order to set the float bowls. The more washers you use, the more fuel in the bowls. You will also need a float bowl tool to measure the amount of fuel in the bowls. The Zenith floats are very different from the webers. As I recall the same float level tool can be used on Webers and Zeniths. This is the tool that screws in at the bottom of the float bowl so you can see the fuel level.
The link from bjmullan (above) has copies of the factory manual which tell how to adjust the level. Lyn
