Detailing black paint
I have a black car and washed and waxed it with eagle one eax 2 weeks ago. I washed it today and all my old scratches came back after 1 wash. I dont realy want to wax my car every time i wash it so is there a special way for the wax to stay for a couple of wash's. Is there a sealer or 2 step that works better than the regular wax that comes off after one wash? Please help with any info!

What kind of soap did you use? Also, which Eagle One "wax" did you use. Carnuba wax is great for drak colored cars.

Well you are using the right soap. Some people use dish washing soap, which would strip any wax off. Now as far as the "Wet Look" wax, is it really a wax. Black is really tough to keep scratch free. You could try a scratch/swirl remover, then apply several coats of wax. Have you ever tried Zymol waxes?

3M Imperial Hand Glaze followed by Dri-'N-Wash...
sounds goofy.... works great on not having swirls..especially for black paint. Local hi-end body shop uses this unconventional , but proven, method.... Wil

I have three black cars. I use Klasse all in one and Glaxe. Be sure you use the best micro fiber cloths, towels, buffing pads, wash mits etc. Not the walmart brand. I know this by experience!! I have found lots of info at this site.

The only way to get the scratches and swirls out is to buff them out. I highly recommend the Porter Cable orbital buffer. It's mostly idiot proof and you can't hurt the car. I bought my setup from these guys:
http://www.properautocare.com/bufpol.html For polish I'm a big fan of Menzerna: http://www.properautocare.com/mengerbespol.html Unless you have oxidized paint you could probably just start with their Menzerna Final Polish II and then finish off with a wax or acrylic sealant like Zaino or Klasse. This is what I do for my daily drivers. It's a quick two step process. If your paint needs deeper cleaning you can step up to a three step process and start with the Menzerna Intensive Polish. If you want to be really anal you can do a 5 step process: clay, polish, polish II, glaze, seal (wax). Glazing is good if you have scratches that can't be buffed out. Anyway, the orbital buffer is the best car accessory I ever bought. The time savings and the results are amazing. |
