Lost my first car...DAMN IT

Man, I don't need this crap. I didn't think I was going to be effected like this. Had a first purchased all lined up, ready to make an offer, and go close it this weekend. Got the email it is under offer set to close this weekend. DAMN IT! I am so pissed too. I know my whole weekend is ruined now, no Super bowl party for me.......... It is probably going to lead to me buying this 3.2 I really can't afford. Great!

Patients is the key to finding the right car. I would email the seller back and let him know that if his deal falls through to please give you a call. If the car sells this weekend just continue your search. Don't make a hasty decision and pay more for a car then you either want to or can afford.

kwm,

I think that we have all been there at one point or another. I was ready to purchase a Diamond Blue Metallic Carrera in Maryland and the seller sold the car to a dealer b/c he didn't think I was serious (after I scheduled a PPI). He sent me a email stating the dealer was offering him so much for the car ($5000 under his asking price) and he didn't think I could come through with the $$ since I was a college student. So, two months later I sent him a nice email with me and my Carrera and informed him just because I was still in school didn't mean I wasn't serious and I would have paid his full asking price if the PPI was ok.

You will find another car, it might just take more time and be further away or in my case one very close popped up--you never know just be patient.

Worst part is I feel like I am being such a baby too. The other factor is my issues:
1) I will not or cant see myself doing a long distance sight unseen purchase. So PPI, photos on Inet, I still need to see and go over the car myself. I mean I can't even buy a motorcycle helmet over the net that is a great deal b/c I have to try it on. Call me weird
2) I now live on the east coast came here from the land of sweet Pcars, CA. and so few good cars come along out here it is sickening. The lack of Pcars seen driving around or to work etc is also sickening.

The 3.2 I am looking at has way more potential and more potential value but it needs more work than this SC I was going to get into. This SC was gone over with a very fine toothed comb. GGRRRRR

There is always another porsche out there, and the longer you look, the more you learn about your likes and dislikes, I used to be enamoured of a 928 s4 despite every negative comment, and missed quite a few locally on ebay, until I realized that I didnt even like the interior of the car or the drivetrain. cnm

I looked at cars for almost a year, and made offers on 3 or 4 before I purchased the one that I have. My karma is pretty good, so I adopt the attitude that if it was not meant to be, then it is the wrong car for me.

Be philosophical about it. Next week you might run across one even better for less money.

I am in the Carolinas but I sure am not going to be the guy who takes a car from a fellow Pelican. I just learned today what it is like to have a car bought out from under you w/i 24 hours of your purchase date. I do appreciate the offer though. Actually my bidget is more in the SC range and why I was saying the 87 3.2 C I am looking at for a 2nd time this weekend is sort of out of my budget, at least their asking price is anyway.

If it's a deal move on it. I found my car - had been talking with the seller back and forward for 3-4 weeks - finally they told me that they were dropping the price to move it. I called them that day - they had a deposit in 24 hours.

What loss? If you never had it, you didn't "loose" anything. Sure, you may be disappointed, but it's just a car. Wait until some more of life has passed by and you have dealt with a few real losses. Then you will look back and see how trivial this is.

BTW, was a PPI done on this car? Did you have anything vested in it? You know, it's very possible to come up with a car that needs an engine rebuild at 6 to 8K right after the purchase. That's what I would call a loss.

Do your homework and let this pass.

Why don't you commission someone on the WEST coast to find a car for you? There are a couple of folks who "pedal" Porsche's and could help you out. You'd be getting someone with extensive experience and there are a gazillion shops out here for a PPI. Then, sit back, relax (you really need to) and have the car shipped to you. I think you will drive yourself even more crazy if you limit your search to within 1/2 your of where you live. You said it yourself, CA is the land of P-cars. Bewtween PPI and shipping yer probably looking at only another thousand bucks.....small potato's

Since Pcars in good shape sell for so much less in CA. than they do here I could probably come out ahead. My cousins and some other family still live in the central valley. However, even thought they are car guys, their heads are not where mine is. One just finished a restoe on Lincoln convert with suicide doors and the other a 69 Toyota Land cruiser. I actually have often thought about renting a car carrier, driving out to SOCAL and buying a bunch of cars to bring back East to sell. You know kinda like the Brits like to do except their operation involves an ocean liner and every car taken is one you or I will never get to see again.

Something better always comes along. I bought my 87 930 after missing a deal on a car relatively close to me in Naperville, Illinois. Heart broken I kept the search alive and found my car in Reno Nevada having to ship it all the way acro$$ to Michigan. Worth it yes, however shortly thereafter an 89 Turbo with EFI came up for 7k more. Every time you miss one another becomes available. Good luck.

I had long checklists and lots of advice from here when i went to search for my current car. Bought the first one i drove and after 30 minutes it was mine. Broken oilcooler, crappy wiring, brakes in bad condition,Injectors: it had 5 Porsche and 1 audi injector,Heat system not working and lots more. My point is i would be pissed too if i missed mine but afterall it was a bad choice. All is fixed now thanks to this board
Good luck on the next car !

Cheers
