What are your favourite body modifications - 81 SC?

I will be adding a ducktail for sure and Bosch H4 headlights

I might also return the Targa bar back to "black"

I'm thinking of a rear bumperettes delete

What should I do with the front valence?

Anything else?

I'm looking for easy bolt on changes.

Body modifications? I like piercings more than tattoos. Neither is best.

As for porsches, less is more!

I would put the Targa bar back to black and just detail and clean up stuff on the car. The fog lights look like they might not be original? if so I would go original.
That Targa look's pretty good like she sit's. Nice color.
Plus you can join the elite Sugar Scoop headlight holdout's of the world with the US headlights.

I would make sure the mechanicals are in top condition.

A nice Carrera valence will clean up the fog lights. I 'm also partial to Euro bumper gaurds in the rear.

Yeah, I say leave it too. If you insist, a duck would also look good, but no glass bumpers or anything wild like that.

I do not like the US headlamps. Go and buy the H4's. Nothing else...

Except for the Targa bar, I wouldn't change a thing. Looks great as is.

That's a nice Targa. "Duck it", and leave it at that.

The evolution

When purchased - big hairy-chest wing and sugar scoops

stage 1 - new wheels and a clean look:

Stage 2 - H4s and a Ducktail

Next step - Paint the trim rings and ducktail and maybe add an understated side graphic like a PORSCHE script.

What do you think?

How about getting rid of the front fog lights - they're pretty useless anyway. Metal work the valence to get rid of the mounting points for the fog lights and front license plate. Delete the front sidemarker lights and install the rubber plugs the Euro cars had. I wouldn't add any additional graphics. Cleaner is better.

What tail was on your car when you first got it? It looks like an RSA version.
Do you still have it?

Its fiberglass

Yes I still have it.

My issue is that shipping it is a royal PIA due to the large size.

I'm going to hold into it until I can sell it locally

Here was my old for sale forum post

I have a mid year, not an SC but I would either go to the Carrera front valence and fogs, or delete the fogs totally as someone else suggested.

Personally I do not care for the bumperette delete YMMV, so I went with the backdate to narrow European/ US '74 bumperettes. Not sure if that would look entirely right with an SC or not. By the way, by all means paint those H4 headlight rings and otherwise? Your car looks great. Love the deeper wheels.

The O of my 80SC did some very tastefull changes to the car. I wish I could rattle off the brands and names of all the bits and pieces but I cannot. I know he purchased RUF knockoff parts for the front and rear bumper and an authentic RUF front spoiler. I can dig up the reciepts if you want.

When I see a standard SC of the same era next to mine I am very happy with the look of mine.

I like the original carrera tail better than the duck, but to each his own. Nice car either way.
