need help identifying color for 72 E
Restoring a 72 E that had a color change at some point in its life. I thought the original color under the paint was oliv however the more I look at it it apears to be a lighter green. The stamps in the tag do not seem to match the farbendaten site. the nearest color looks like it might be chartrues . Other than spending money on a coa any thoughts? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1139796594.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1139796628.jpg

May be Zambezie Green....most likely spelled incorrectly....It was an almost yellow-green from that period

Jeff,
Is the code on that unfocused pic 140-9-3? If so, it is VW Metallic Gold, an optional color in 1972. |
O My!
Hey stormmaster,
You have symptoms of color blindness Man. :D Better go get it checked on. ;) Zambezie Green is a 914 color. SmileWavy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1139799384.jpg |

Warren, yes that is the code. thank you for the information. Unfortunately I don't think it is a color I want to paint the car.

I went back to http://www.elferhelfer.com/farben.htm and sure enough it was there to the right of the Gold coupe on the targa model and it showed "140" on the right side - It does look a little more yellow then my car. but I will chalk that up to differences in the cameras and pictures thanks again

Looks like Bahama Yellow on my monitor.
