911 Shifter fine tuning
Hi Guys
I have my shifter out to replace the 2 bushings, the cup and the donut shaped one. The shifter feels somewhat stiff even out of the car. I thought I read an article somewhere about really tuning it up and filling down some pieces ever so lightly to have a smooth shifter. Does this ring a bell with anyone ? if you could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Thanks ice . |

I would say leave it a bit tight. Tight means no rattles, but it doesn't have to be too stiff. I think the factory got it about right and when clean and lubed up nice, they seem to work well the way they are.
You have to remember that holding it in your hand and having it bolted to the floor moving the rod and forks, not to mention the gear stacks is entirely different in feeling. Just my .02. I have 3-4 ****ers that I have played with to come up with a hybrid of sorts. It's been cut and turned around 180* to use with a 901 pattern. ![]() So I have made all the adjustments I speak of. |
