Heat Exchanger Cleaning
i just removed my heat exchangers, im not sure what they consist of inside but i was wondering if i could put them in my parts washer to get them cleaned up.

Bead blast and high temp paint but I'd caustion bead blasting very old heat exchangers. I very carefully bead blasted mine and then painted them with a very high temp silver which I baked in the oven. I could have left them alone but they still looked bad in spots near the intake manifold. Paint has held up very well even on the cross over pipe. Here's a pic.

I sure would NOT want to be breathing that solvent - esp. as it heats up...
can you ensure that none gets inside?
