How can you find out what your engine # should be?

I have a 71 S but not it's original engine, is there any way of finding out what my engine number would have been? I know it's a long shot but if I had the original number maby I could find my engine, or at least the case.

Thanks
Kevin

At the Porsche web site there is a link to the PET here: http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/classic-originalparts/originalparts-originalparts/

Select your model and year, then go to the V-Pages.

Bye the way....your engine # is a generic one....901/XX....your engine serial number is specific to the car and will...or should show up on the Kradex/COA.....
