Ginger's new room - part dew
As many houses as I've built, remodels I've done and buildings/offices I've put up, I never get as excited as when doing one for myself.
Here's part once My framer started today. We spent the first bit talking about tying in the new roof, door layout and window location. He was only able to work about half the day. Still got a good start. I think she's pleased.....

Very nice.....
Looks like lots of storage area in the attic space. I did the same in the shop I built. Installed a folding ladder access - with the easy access I use it regularly. Great place to put those things you use infrequently, but still need them. Keeps the rest of the shop free of the most clutter. Keep the pics coming.

Be glad you are back in Texas...that roof wouldn't really help much up here in the PNW.

Mark,
Looks really well integrated with your present structure. Assume no plans for lift vertical clearance??

Bill,
No lift for this one. This house was a fixer upper and needs a garage for resale. Ultimate goal is to get to the hill country - I'll build my house and shop there for the long term. |

It's coming along. Framer just finished this week. The electricians did the rough in. I'm ready for rough inspections and should insulate and drywall next week. Note the drops for the lighting. There will be 10 - 4' 2 lamp fluorescent fixtures. The attic has about 20' x 20' of stoarge space floored. Tomorrow, I'm running iron pipe up into the attic to feed a hidden hose reel for the air compressor. Also roughing in for the cable and speaker wires. Cheers.
Ginger is watching the progress.

Looks like you're doing what I did, siding the garage and painting the house to match. ??

Not sure I want to repaint the whole house right now. Prolly just throw white at the garage to match the house.

You better hang on tight to that framer if he can do that much in 4 hrs. Even the lightening fast SoCal hacks can't do that. They would have taken 4 hrs. to just roll those truss joists and stack as much roof as is shown.

Milt,
This guy is very good. I've been using him for my Resi stuff for several years. Problem is, he won't buckle down and stay with a project straight through. He keeps several frames going and jumps around. He spent a total of 3.5 days with 1 helper full time and 1 part time. I pay him labor plus nails. Little less than $3K for this one. How does that compare to CA? |
